Big Cat Experience

With this big cat experience you will spend the day with the big cat keepers and discover just how much fun you can have looking after Lions, Tigers, Cheetahs, Snow Leopards, White Tigers and White Lions. This is a truly unique and memorable zoo experience at one of the UK's leading zoos!

Your Shadow a Big Cat Keeper experience will begin in the Discovery Centre where you will enjoy a welcome drink. You will then be meet by one of the trained keepers and your adventure will commence. You will receive a full health and safety briefing and find out what will be expected of you.

You will become part of an elite team who have one of the most amazing and unique jobs in the world! You will participate in caring for the lions, tigers, cheetahs, snow leopards, white lions, jaguars and white tiger. You will get to assist the big cat keepers with their daily routine - cleaning out, daily maintenance of enclosures and preparing food (definitely not for the squeamish!!). The highlight of the day will be entering the cheetah enclosure for a close encounter and feeding the lions or tigers by hand (from outside the enclosure).

The experience lasts for approximately 5 hours in total, and following your experience you are more than welcome to spend the rest of the day at the park seeing the many other animals, shows and attractions.

You will receive a souvenir T-shirt and a presentation certificate as a memento of a truly memorable day with the big cats!

The price includes refreshments and lunch in Safari Sams cafe.

All of our gift experiences are presented in an attractive red case with "Congratulations - you are the lucky recipient of a Well Wicked experience day" written on the front. You will also get a DVD featuring many of our experiences. Experience vouchers can be personalised if required.

Duration

Your Shadow a Big Cat Keeper experience will last for approx 5 hours, however you are more than welcome to spend the rest of the day at the zoo.

Restrictions

Minimum age of 18 years old.

Spectators

Guests are welcome to join you and will pay normal admission prices. Your guests will be able to follow you loosely on your experience however, will not be allowed behind the scenes at any point. You are welcome to arrive early and stay late to enjoy the other attractions.

Availability

This fantastic animal experience is available daily throughout the year with the exception of Christmas Day. Experience runs from 9am - 2pm. Please see the different prices for weekdays and weekends.

Disabled Access/Facilities

There is wheelchair access into most areas on the experience. Some activities, however, will be restricted due to access issues i.e. cleaning out enclosure. There is wheelchair access to the lion and tiger feeding areas.

The zoo itself is well equipped for people using wheelchairs. There are disabled parking bays near to the entrance. Most of the site is on level ground with tarmac pathways in most areas. There are right and left hand transfer toilets in the main car park and wheelchair accessible toilets on the main restaurant and on the Animal Park. The zoo also has wheelchairs for hire. There is also a special needs playground with a wheelchair swing, swings with harnesses and rockers. The whole area has a soft crumb play surface.

Most of our animal experiences are suitable for wheelchairs but please let us know in advance if you are a wheelchair user.

What a brilliant, fantastic day and one we will never forget. We both loved every minute of it and my wife is still smiling now! Realising that every experience is different and not knowing how much mucking out would be required, we were pleasantly surprised that we had chosen a day where so many of the cats needed feeding or had to have their medicines. Not only did we feed the Tigers but we also gave the Lions their medicine and bottle fed the Lion cubs, went in the Cheetah enclosure for her feed and played with the Leopards by giving them some citrus treats on a stick. Being so close to these lovely big cats was a dream come true. Both Zoo keepers, Jenny and Kate, were outstanding.

What we noticed on our arrival was how polite and friendly all the staff are. Already we have given out your details to lots of friends and colleagues and we are going back to the zoo next week with our son. A big thank you to Well Wicked Ltd and the zoo for the exceptional way they organised our day and exceeded all our expectations. Darren - Berkshire
